New Delhi: Motor vehicles registered in any foreign country will not be permitted to transport local passengers and goods within India, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways said on Monday.

Motor vehicles registered in any country other than India shall be required to comply with rules and regulations made under the Motor Vehicles Act 1988, a notification said.

It said that such vehicles will have to carry a valid registration certificate, a valid driving license or international driving permit, a valid insurance policy and a valid pollution under control certificate.

In case these documents are in a language other than English, then an authorized English translation shall be carried along with the original documents, the notification said. (UNI)
