New Delhi: Commercial vehicle maker SML Isuzu on Monday said it has decided to temporarily suspend production at its Punjab unit in the wake of rising Omicron cases.

In a regulatory filing, the company said that production at its plan would remain suspended from January 10 to January 15, 2022.

The company sees surge in Omicron cases to impact supply chain and also demand for school buses with schools.

"The company is closely monitoring the current situation and ensuring customers' requirements and taking the appropriate actions as required," SML Isuzu said in a filing to BSE.

In the past one week Covid cases have been rising uncontrollably forcing state governments to impose restrictions and night curfews. (UNI)
