New Delhi: Suzuki Motorcycle India on Thursday launched Suzuki Avenis, a new 125cc scooter equipped with a futuristic appeal, advanced features, additional convenience and sporty styling to take on competition in a market that caters to a young mindset, high performance, convenience and latest technology.

The two-wheeler subsidiary of Suzuki Motor Corporation, Japan, is looking at developing new models that can blend with the needs of India’s young and aspirational generation and fulfill the latent customer expectations. “Our teams in Japan and India worked really hard to develop a new product that can fulfill the latent customer expectations,” said Satoshi Uchida, Managing Director, SMIPL.

The scooter priced at Rs 86,700 (ex-showroom) and available in five colour variants, is powered by a 125cc engine with FI technology and light weight body of 106 kg to deliver power of 8.7ps@6750rpm and torque of 10Nm@5500rpm. Advanced features like the bluetooth enabled digital console and ‘Suzuki Ride Connect’ application allow a mobile phone to be synced seamlessly with the vehicle, thereby facilitating turn-by-turn navigation, incoming call, whatsapp alert display, missed call, SMS and unread SMS alert, speed exceeding warning, phone battery level display and estimated time of arrival.

The company has also introduced a new external hinge type fuel cap for ease of fuelling, large under seat space and front box with USB socket for maximum convenience to the rider. Sporty styling, motorcycle inspired rear indicators, body mount bright LED headlamp and LED tail lamp add to the style quotient of the scooter. The company will start the retail sales of Suzuki Avenis in the second half of December. (UNI)
