Pune: Sambhaji Brigade, a Maratha outfit, on Friday called Kangana Ranaut a “traitor” and demanded a ban on all the upcoming films of the actress.

The anger against the celebrity stems from one of her recent interview, during which she said that the 1947 independence was not gained through struggle but instead was given to us as we begged for it.

Lashing out at her remarks, Maharashtra Brigade Region Organizer Santosh Shinde said, “The women across the country should come together and thrash Kangana for terming the freedom fighters as beggars.”

He added, “The actress has lost her mind and made such a shameful remark. Giving Padma Shri to a childish, rude person is an insult to the coveted award itself. A case of treason should be filed against Kangana Ranaut for her seditious statement.”

“The central government should immediately withdraw Kangana’s Padma Shri and arrest her,” he said while hailing the freedom fighters and martyrs of Indian independence. (UNI)
