70th National Film Awards: Rishabh Shetty adjudged best actor for Kantara, Gulmohar best Hindi film

New Delhi: Malayalam film Aattam has bagged the best feature film award in the 70th National Film Awards for the year 2022 while Rishab Shetty has won the best actor award for Kannada movie Kantara.
 
The names of award winners of 70th National Film Awards for the year 2022 were announced here on Friday.
 
Sharmila Tagore and Manoj Bajpayee starrer Gulmohar has been adjudged the best Hindi feature film for national film awards for 2022.
 
The National Film Awards has been delayed by two years due to Covid pandemic. The 69th National Film Awards were announced last year.
 
The National Film Award for the year 2022 for the best actress in a leading role (Feature Films) has gone to Nithya Menen for the film Thiruchitrambalam (Tamil) and Manasi Parekh for the film Kutch Express (Gujarati).
 
Ahead of the announcement, Rahul Rawail, Chairperson of the Feature Film Jury, Nila Madhab Panda, Chairperson of the Non-Feature Film Jury, and Gangadhar Mudalair, Chairperson of the Best Writing on Cinema Jury, along with the respective jury members presented the list of award winners to Union Information and Broadcasting (I&B) Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
 
The Jury for the prestigious award comprised of eminent filmmakers and film personalities from across the Indian cine-world.
 
Best feature film award has been given to Aattam (The Play) directed by Anand Ekarshi and the award for Best Non-Feature Film has been bagged by Ayena (Mirror) directed by Siddhant Sarin.
 
Kantara won the Award for Best Popular Film providing wholesome entertainment.
 
Rishab Shetty has been awarded the best actor in leading role for his performance in the movie Kantara whereas Nithya Menen bagged the award for best actress in a leading role for Thiruchitrambalam.
 
Pavan Raj Malhotra has won the award for the best supporting actor while Neena Gupta won the best supporting actress award in the feature films category.
 
Directed by Ayan Mukerji with its VFX Supervisors Jaykar Arudra, Viral Thakkar, and Neelesh Gore, BRAHMASTRA-PART 1: SHIVA has bagged the award for best film in AVGC (Animation, Visual Effects Gaming & Comic) category.
 
Award for the best book on Cinema has been given to Kishore Kumar: The Ultimate Biography authored by Anirudha Bhattacharjee and Parthiv Dhar.
