Aamir Khan's Secret Superstar collects Rs 5 cr on opening day

Mumbai: Aamir Khan's diwali release 'Secret Superstar' has taken a decent start at the box office, earning around Rs 5 cr on its opening day, trade sources said here.

The film, which featured Dangal girl Zaira Wasim as the protagonist and Aamir Khan, Meher Vij and Raj Arjun in key roles, earned Rs 5 cr, which trade sources believed that its a decent start considering that collections on the Diwali day are low due to celebrations.

The film received rave reviews from the critics as well as celebrities.Secret Superstar tells the story of a school going girl Insia ( played by Zaira Wasim) who is an aspiring singer.The young girl faces resistance from her father after which she opts to follow her dreams by posting videos on social media anonymously.The trailer of the film has received a great response raising the anticipation for the film.

The songs Main Kaun Hoon, Meri Pyaari Ammi, Sapne Re and I Miss You provide further insights into the film.The film has been generating huge buzz owing to Aamir Khan- Zaira Wasim returning to celluloid after ‘Dangal’ as well as the content of the film.Produced by Aamir Khan, Kiran Rao under the banner name of Aamir Khan Productions, Zee Studios, and Akash Chawla, Secret Superstar is written and directed by Advait Chandan.

The trade sources feel that the film is likely to witness a huge jump in its collections in the coming days considering the strong buzz around it and excellent reviews that it has got from critics.(UNI)
