New Delhi: After enthralling viewers in India and across the world, Aamir Khan's 'Dangal' is now creating a splash in China, earning a whopping Rs 72.68 crore in opening weekend, trade sources said today.The sources said the film collected 5.05 million US dollars (Rs 32.48 crore) on Sunday in China.The film's earnings in the opening weekend now stands with a grand total of 11.30 million US dollars (Rs 72.68 crore) at the Box Office in China.
'Dangal', which has been released in China as 'Shuai Jiao Baba' (Let’s Wrestle, Dad), opened in 7,000 screens in China.Aamir, who received an enthusiastic welcome from people in China during his recent visit for the film's premiere, said, 'There is a lot of similarity in our cultures.I’m comfortable with Chinese people.I feel closer to people in China than in the West.
A closer connection I feel.I can feel the emotion when I come to China.It is something that I really cherish.I’ve been acting for many years.In the beginning, none of my films was popular in China, especially with youth in China.Then 'Dhoom 3' and 'PK' have also done so well here.It makes me very happy that my work gets so much love from China.” A biopic on life of Olympian wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat, Dangal also stars Sakshi Tanwar, apart from debutantes Fatima Sana Sheikh, Sanya Malhotra, Zaira Wasim and Suhani Bhatnagar.The film, produced under the banner of Aamir Khan Productions and UTV Motion Pictures, has been directed by Nitesh Tiwari, who previously helmed Bhoothnath Returns.
