Actress Tanisha Mukherjee has launched the 'Good Touch Bad Touch'' initiative here with an aim to make children aware of difference between the good touch and bad touch.
The campaign will be implemented through the Gravittus Foundation, an initiative by Usha Kakade.Speaking to media at the launch of campaign here on Wednesday, Mukherjee said, "The 'Good Touch Bad Touch' programme aimed at making children aware of difference between the good touch and bad touch should be included in the school curriculum, so that it gets widespread publicity."
"Such initiatives should get support from the government to prevent sexual abuse of children," she said and expressed the need to raise voice about the wrong touch.Mukherjee further said, "Incidents of violence against children and women are on rise. To prevent this violence, it is equally important to create awareness in the society along with the implementation of law. Often, attempts are made to suppress such incidents."
"Children never lie. So, parents and teachers should have a regular communication with children. We should listen. We should have an open dialogue. We have a right to our body. So, we should react to the touch that we do not like," she added.
Kakade said, "After the Nirbhaya incident in Delhi, we took up this initiative out of social consciousness. Initially, there was some rejection from schools and parents. But later this initiative became very successful."
"Through Gravitas Foundation, this initiative is being started in various schools in Pune. So far, 4.5 lakh students have been given awareness of good touch bad touch. A team of trained volunteers work on it. Many incidents are coming to light and measures are being taken. A short film 'Udne Do' has been created for awareness. We will also approach the government for this movement's nationwide expansion," she added.(UNI)
