New Delhi: Spitting fire at Alia Bhatt's much awaited "Gangubai Kathiawadi", Kangana Ranaut on Sunday attacked the Bollywood movie-mafiadom allegedly being run by "Papa Jo" for being incorrigible.
Taking a jibe at Sanjay Lee Bhansali and Alia's upcoming "Gangubai..", Kangana forecast the movie is doomed to fail at the box office.
Voicing her opinions about Bollywood loosing screens to South and Hollywood productions, Kangana attributed it to Bollywood's "refusal to learn from its mistakes and succumbing to nepotism culture".
She indirectly accused Bhansali of casting Alia after being influenced by Karan Johar (though not taking his name directly) that she went on to term as the "nepotism mafia" of Bollywood.
Taking to Instagram Stories, the actress said: “This Friday 200cr will be burnt to ashes at the box office … for a papa (movie mafia daddy) ki pari (who likes to keep a British passport) because papa wants to prove that romcom bimbo can act… "...biggest drawback of the film is wrong casting…yeh nahi sudhrenge (these people won't change) no wonder screens are going to South and Hollywood films … Bollywood is destined for doom jab tak movie mafia has power… (sic).”
Kangana has been vocal against the casting in Bollywood. Ever since Bhansali announced the cast of "Gangubai" she said that Alia is too naive and looks far too immature to play the role of a prostitute, a gangster and a social worker in the film.
She followed it up with another post that read, “Bollywood mafia daddy papa jo to who has single handedly ruined the work culture in the film industry, has emotionally manipulated many big directors and forced his products of mediocrity on their cinematic brilliance, another example will be following soon after this release. "People need to stop entertaining him, in this Friday release even a big hero and greatest director are the new victims of his manipulations."
Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, "Gangubai Kathiawadi" is a biographical film that stars Alia in the titular role of prostitute turned madame and mafia woman as well as a social worker advocating for rights of sex workers in India.
Alongside her stars Shantanu Maheshawari, Vijay Raaz, Ajay Devgn, Indira Tiwari, Seema Pahwa, Varun Kapoor and Jim Sarbh. The film will release on Feb 25.
Despite all the rave reviews on teaser and trailer drop, Kangana is quite convinced, especially after her last two movies did not sparkle much.
Only a few days back, Kangana objected to a viral video of a child imitating Alia from 'Gangubai Kathiawadi' and penned, “Should this child imitate a sex worker with a beedi in her mouth and crude and obscene dialogues? Look at her body language, is it ok to sexualize her at this age? There are hundreds of other children who are being used similarly.” (UNI)
