Festivals are the best time for companies to market themselves and carry out campaigns to
attract more audience by connecting with them but the recent campaign idea by Eros Nowdidn’t go as planned.
The said company launched an online campaign that received a negative response and even
#BoycottErosNow was trending on second within a day!
After Tanishq was disdained for its advertisement which was perceived by Indians as “Anti
Hindu”, it’s Eros Now that is receiving cold shoulders from the netizens.
After they launched their campaign that contained “obscene” content, people started
commenting on the atrocity of the company. The tweet that was shared by the Eros Now’s
handle said, “Be naughty, sweet toh mithai bhi hai” which was shared alongside the poster of
Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif.
Two other posters were shared that read, “Let’s have some majama in my pyajama” and “You
need a dandi to play dandiya-I have one” with Bollywood star Salman Khan’s photo.
Right after these memes were posted on the company’s official website, social media was
flooded with screenshots of the memes and people started sharing them on various media
platforms.
The netizens are questioning Eros Now about the purpose of making such posters which insult
the auspicious festival of Navratri. Some people even slammed the company for using these
vulgar posters to gain publicity. The memes shared are being called as “vulgar” and
“hinduphobic”. Eros Now seems to be in deep waters.
Further talking about the nature of content being created and shared on social media,
Bollywood actress Kangana Ranuat commented on the tweet, “Even on international streaming
platforms the nature of the content is sensational we need to manufacture overtly sexual,
deeply gruesome brutal, violent content, essentially to arouse the viewer’s sexual appetite,
very difficult to get any other content cleared by their teams.”
Later in the evening, the streaming platform apologized on Twitter saying “We at Eros love and
respect our cultures equally. It is not, and it has never been our intention to hurt anyone’s
emotions.” They also deleted the pictures but the public seems hurt and would not accept the
