New Delhi: Nowadays, a film's release date has become a ''make or break'' factor that can decide the project's fate at the box office. Of late, Akshay Kumar's next, 'Gold', has been in the news vis-?-vis the supposed postponement of its release date.
It was reported that the sports film wouldn't hit screens on its original date of August 15 this year, and that its release has been pushed on Akshay's request.Akshay has reportedly asked the film's makers to postpone its release since his other film, '2.0' initially slated to release on April 27, was being released on August 15.
However, sources close to the makers of 'Gold' reveal that the film is set to hit theatres on its original date of August 15, and that there's "no change at all" in its release date.
A source close to the film's makers says, "We don't know where such reports and details came from. Akshay hasn't asked producer Ritesh Sidhwani to push the release date of Gold. The date was finalised almost 18 months ago and it stays the same. There is no reason for us to move our release date, especially when 2.0 is highly unlikely to make it to theatres on the Independence Day weekend."The source also maintains that Gold's genre is such that its makers have no doubts about its release date.
"The film is about India's first Olympic medal win as a free nation in 1948 at the Games of the XIV Olympiad, London. What better date than the Independence Day to release such a film? So, there's no question of moving or postponing it," the source added.(UNI)
