Mumbai: In a case that has sent ripples across Bollywood, Vedhika Prakash Shetty, a former personal assistant to actress Alia Bhatt, was arrested by Juhu Police in connection with alleged financial fraud totaling Rs 77 lakh, officials confirmed.
The arrest follows a five-month investigation initiated through a complaint filed by Bhatt's mother, Soni Razdan, concerning irregularities at the actress's production company Eternal Sunshine Productions Private Limited and personal bank accounts.
Police confirmed the arrest occurred in Bengaluru, with Shetty subsequently produced before local courts.
Authorities allege the fraud occurred between May 2022 and August 2024. "Significant revelations may emerge during further investigation," stated police sources, noting the ongoing probe could yield additional developments. Neither Bhatt nor her representatives have issued official statements regarding the case.
Eternal Sunshine Productions, founded by Bhatt in 2021, gained recognition for its debut film 'Darlings'. The actress recently appeared in 'Jigra' and is currently filming the action thriller 'Alpha' alongside Sharvari Wagh, scheduled for December 25 release. Bhatt will also star in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Love and War'opposite Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal.
