Kolkata: Matinee idol Amitabh Bachchan along with his wife Jaya are expected to unveil the 22nd Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF), scheduled to begin on November 11 at Netaji Indoor Stadium.
West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee has invited the megastar along with his spouse Jaya Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt and Kajol.However, Shah Rukh Khan, the brand ambassador of the state, would not attend due to his pre-occupation.Altogether 155 movies from 65 countries would be screened for eight days at 13 venues in this metropolis.Of them seven movies are from China.
According to Calcutta International Film Festival chairman Gautam Ghosh, a celebrated director, cinema is the best medium for people to bring them together with wholesome entertainment at this age of disparity and intolerance. The 8-day long festival is being organised by the West Bengal Government.(UNI)
