New Delhi: Veteran film actor Anupam Kher was on Wednesday appointed as new chairman of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), replacing Gajendra Chauhan.
Sixty two-year-old Kher, who was conferred the Padma Shri in 2004 and Padma Bhushan in 2016 by the government, has 500 films to his credit.
He has also made his mark in the arena of darma.Mr Chauhan’s term ends in March this year.Strong student opposition to his appointment had led to the closure of the FTII for 139 days last year.(UNI)
