Babumoshai breaks conventional stereotypical norms of actor : Nawaz

Babumoshai breaks conventional stereotypical norms of actor : Nawaz
, Saturday, 19 August 2017 (15:53 IST)
Mumbai: He has established a niche for himself in the film industry as an actor who is at ease in doing unconventional roles. In his upcoming film 'Babumoshai Bandookbaaz' too, actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui's character 'Babu' breaks the norms of conventional traits of an actor.

Talking to UNI, Nawazuddin who was here yesterday to promote his upcoming movie said, "My character of Babumoshai breaks the conventional stereotypical norms of an actor in the film industry. The movie is on contract killing and my character is very weird. ''In the movie you will see that the hero is not the same old conventional type but has a different attitude, style and nature.

It breaks all the norms and is hence very different." Asked if he fears being typecast as a grey character, the 43-year-old actor said," I am playing a teacher in 'Haramkhor', then a contract killer in 'Babumoshai Bandookbaaz', I have done 'Lunchbox' and I am playing a character of literate person in 'Manto'. So, only a hero is typecast.

I don't have that fear. The actor, whose acting skills are more liked sometimes rather than the film itself whether it be with the Khans like 'Raees' or 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' or with Sridevi's 'Mom', Nawaz said," I can't say anything on this. It is the love of the audience and I am fortunate that people are liking my performances in the film." An action thriller, 'Babumoshai Bandookbaaz' is directed by Kushan Nandy and produced by Kiran Shyam Shroff and Ashmith Kunder.

The film features Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who plays a sharp shooter Baby, and Bengali actress Bidita Bag in the lead roles. 'Babumoshai Bandookbaaz' , which had been stuck with the censor board due to several cuts ordered by the CBFC, is now set for release on August 25 after having been passed with no major changes and minimal cuts, by the Central Board of Film Certification.

Talking of the censor board's decision, the actor said,"With nominal cuts and the shuffling of words, our movie was cleared by the tribunal and it will be released as it is." Expressing his happiness with the board's decision, Nawazuddin said that the abusive language was a part of the script and allowed the characters to breathe in the real world. The actor said there is no need of the censor board in India and that films should only be certified by the board. (UNI)
