Bengaluru: City Police have released Siddhanth Kapoor, brother of actress Shraddha Kapoor, on bail after he was arrested for consuming drugs at a party in Bengaluru.
But he has been asked to appear for an inquiry today at 11 am. He was released late Monday night.
A medical test conducted on them had shown that Siddhant and other five accused had consumed drugs.
Siddhanth is also the son of actor Shakti Kapoor and has acted in more than Bollywood films. He is also an actor and assistant director.
The police had seized seven tablets of MDMA, a banned drug and a small amount of marijuana from a dustbin at the party venue.
Siddhant had travelled from Mumbai to Bengaluru on Sunday to attend the rave party.
The accused have been booked under Section 22A, 22B and 27 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
Bollywood, of late, has been in the centre of controversy over the issue of drugs. Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan Khan was given a clean chit by the Narcotics Control Bureau, after he was arrested in a drug bust case last year. He spent nearly a month in jail last year and was released on bail.
The NCB's charge sheet in the matter, dismissed the case against Aryan Khan, citing a ‘lack of sufficient evidence’. Other Bollywood actors including Siddhant's sister Shraddha Kapoor and Deepika Padukone were also involved in drug cases. (UNI)
