On the eve of his 60th birthday, superstar Aamir Khan dropped a big surprise for everyone. The actor met journalists at an informal meet at a Mumbai hotel on Thursday and introduced his 'partner' aka girlfriend Gauri Spratt.
Aamir and Gauri sat together and interacted with the media, talking about their journey together. Aamir revealed that the two of them had met 25 years ago but lost touch and reconnected a couple of years ago. "I was looking for someone who I can be calm with, who gives me peace. And there she was," the actor added.
Aamir said that they have been together for 18 months now and quipped, "See, tum logon ko pata nahi lagne diya na maine (I didn’t let you guy know about it)."
When asked what prompted him to go public with the relationship, he said, "We are committed now, and we felt we were secure enough in each other to tell you guys. And this is better, I won't have to hide things now."
He added that he introduced his girlfriend to Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan at his Mumbai home yesterday.
The actor said he has tried to prepare Gauri for the 'mad world' of showbiz and even hired private security for her for his 'personal peace of mind'.
Aamir further said, "I don't know at the age of 60, mujhe shaadi shobha deti hai ki nahi. My kids are very happy. I am very fortunate to have such great relationships with my ex-wives."
As a parting note, Aamir referred to his 2001 hit Lagaan and said, 'Bhuvan ko uski Gauri mil hi gayi'.
Who is Gauri Spratt?
Hailing from Bengaluru, Gauri Spratt is a half-Tamil, half-Irish woman. She has been married before and has a six-year-old son.
According to her LinkedIn profile, she holds an FDA in Fashion, Styling and Photography from the University of Arts, London. She's in charge of a BBlunt salon in Mumbai. Currently, she works in production with Khan.
