Mumbai: Celebrities from the glamour industry of Bollywood today took to microblogging site Twitter to condemn the murder of activist-journalist Gauri Lankesh, who was shot dead outside her home in Bengaluru. Actor Shabana Azmi, known for her strong views on both political and apolitical matters, posted on Twitter, ''D fight is not between Hindus and Muslims but of ideology.

Liberals of ALL religions on same side against bigots of ALL religions on d other. #Gauri Lankesh shot dead outside her home.Shocking Devastating. Dabholkar Pansare Kalburgi Culprits must be punished.'' Her husband and renowned scriptwriter Javed Akhtar followed suit with another tweet, which said ''Dhabolkar, Pansare, Kalburgi, and now Gauri Lankesh If one kind of people are getting killed which kind of people are the killers.''

Renowned Director Shekhar Kapur wrote, ''To kill someone for their views is not Democracy, its beginnings of a Banana Republic, where violence speaks louder than words #GauriLankesh''. Producer-Director Shirish Kunder posted, ''When "intellectual" becomes an abuse, words are replied with bullets. RIP #GauriLankesh.'' Sonam Kapoor also condemned the killing, saying ''Truth alone prevails. Your voice will be heard & shall turn into an echo towards justice. #GauriLankeshMurder. A relatively new entrant on the block, Sara Ali Khan, daughter of Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh, also gave her views on the killing. In a tweet, she said, ''GauriLankesh murdered in Bangalore and I am sure Rajdeep, Barkha, Saba, Rana will protest not against Karnataka Govt but against RSS/Modi.''

Versatile actor Manoj Bajpayee chose a Hindi message to express his feelings. He said ''Hatya kisi ki ho apradh hai lekin jo log aaj #GauriLankesh ke liye khade hain woh Karnataka ya desh mein Sangh karyakartaon ki hatya par kyun khamosh rehte hain? (Killing of any person, is a crime, but those who are standing for #GauriLankesh, why do they keep mum over murders of Sangh workers in Karnataka or in the country?)'' (UNI)
