Bollywood failed to deliver a love story this valentine week

Mumbai: Seems like Bollywood has been failing to capitalize the events and days this year. Not long ago, Republic day passed and there were two movies released in the week, “Raees” and “Kaabil”. The much touted clash of Bollywood didn’t have any patriotic flavor, one was a biopic of a gangster while the other was a revenge drama. Last year, Akshay Kumar starrer “Airlift” was released near 26th January which was based on the biggest rescue operation of  Indians when Iraq invaded Kuwait.

The same can be said for Valentines week of 2017. Generally, producers wait to release light hearted love stories like “Ok Jaanu”  in the month of February.  However the Aashiqui pair film was released in the second week of January. This valentine week two movies are lined up,  Akshay Kumar’s “Jolly LLB 2” and Gurmeet Ram Rahim’s “Hind ka napak ko Jawab MSG Lion Heart-2 ”.

The former is the sequel of Arshad Warsi’ comic thriller “Jolly LLB”. The movie showcases the widespread corruption in the Judiciary. Akshay romances with the actress Huma Qureshi but love remains the secondary plot in the movie. While the later is based on terrorism in which self styled godman Gurumeet Ram Rahim plays the lead role. Clearly, Bollywood has failed to capture the cupid factor. Last year two romantic movies of Katrina and Yami titled “Fitoor” and “Sanam re” was released on February 12.
