Bollywood fraternity condemns terrorist attack on Amarnath Yatris

Mumbai: Celebrities from the world of Bollywood today condemned the terror attack on Amarnath Yatra in Jammu and Kashmir, that killed seven pilgrims, including five women, when a bus carrying at least 56 passengers was attacked by militants. Bollywood celebrities Akshay Kumar, Shah Rukh Khan, Varun Dhawan, Huma Qureshi and Madhur Bhandarkar among others expressed their anguish and anger by condemning the cowardly attack on innocent people.
 

In a tweet, Bollywood Superstar Shah Rukh said,''Saddening to see innocent lives being taken. Prayers for the victims & may God give strength to the families of the #AmarnathYatra pilgrims.” Taking to Twitter, action hero Akshay Kumar said, “Attack on innocent #AmarnathYatra pilgrims is a low of another level! Angry and sad…prayers for all those affected.” Anaarkali of Aarah actor Swara Bhasker termed the attack “barbaric” and “unjustifiable”. “SHAME on this heinous act of terror & crime! U r monsters!! Inhuman barbaric unjustifiable!! #AmarnathTerrorAttack,” Swara tweeted.

Huma Qureshi also expressed solidarity giving out a message of unity and brotherhood. “For years Kashmiri Muslims have helped Hindu brothers undertake #AmarnathYatra. Shame on terrorists. We will not let hate win#UnitedWeStand,” she tweeted. Joining the actors were filmmakers Madhur Bhandarkar, Mahesh Bhatt, Karan Johar, Sajid Khan among others. Mahesh Bhatt said on his social media handle “A tragic night! Time for the nation to stand together and defeat the sinister designs of the terrorists to divide us.” Karan, who was deeply saddened and appalled by the attacks on the Amarnath Yatra pilgrims, said,"Thoughts and prayers with the grieving families." Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar said,"My prayers are with Amarnath Yatra attack victims and their families.

This disgusting act of cowardice is beyond any reason of any kind." Sajid Khan said,"This is horrible! Innocent Amarnath Yatra pilgrims attacked by these coward terrorists! Heartfelt prayers for the victims and their families." Actor Anupam Kher tweeted,"It is high time we stop being diplomatic and defensive. Killing of innocent people should be dealt with total force. Amarnath Yatra." In a tweet, veteran actor Shabana Azmi said,''Terror attack on innocent pilgrims Amarnath Yatra no words strong enough to condemn the dastardly act. Perpetrators must be brought to book as soon as possible." Youth actors of the industry also expressed their sympathies. Arjun Kapoor tweeted,"Shocked and disturbed by the news of the Amaranth Yatra terrorist attack.

'Sarabjit' fame Randeep Hooda said,"What purpose could this cowardly violence lead to...condolences to the families of the ones lost hunt the responsible down." Condemning the attack, Soha Ali Khan said,''Last night's terrorist attack on the Amarnath Yatra is deeply saddening.

My prayers and condolences go out to the families of the pilgrims." In a tweet, Shekhar Suman said,''Amarnath Yatra humanity bleeds on the street and no man hears it.'' The militants attacked on a yatri bus in Anantnag that left seven pilgrims, including five women, dead and 21 injured last night. The bus was returning from Baltal to Mir Bazar after darshan. The militants also carried out two attacks on security forces in the area. (UNI)
