New Delhi: Celebrities from the World of Bollywood on Sunday remembered the late actor Om Puri on his birth anniversary.

Remembering Om Puri on the occasion, producer Rahul Mittra said, “Versatile, gifted, compassionate and grounded; he touched millions through his acting prowess and humane disposition! OmPuri will be thoroughly missed, forever.”

In a tribute to the actor, Bollywood actor Nikhil Dwivedi said, “Undoubtedly the finest. He was also a simple man. He wasn’t being articulate and for that, he was vilified and humiliated. Every contribution of his was forgotten by an ungrateful society in a whiff.”

On Om Puri’s 70th birth anniversary on Sunday, his wife Nandita Puri and son Ishan Puri have planned to honour his memory by launching a YouTube channel, which will be called ‘Puri Baatein’.

Before unveiling the YouTube channel, Nandita had started an organisation called ‘The Om Puri Foundation’ which tries to help people at the root level. They had also worked actively in helping COVID-19 affected families. The organisation came into being after the actor’s demise in 2017.

The YouTube channel ‘Puri Baatein’ will be inaugurated by a four-minute short film made by Ishan. The channel would also discuss Om Puri’s life in movies and outside of work. In addition, fans from across the world will be given an opportunity to talk about their favourite actor.

Speaking on the YouTube channel, Nandita said, “We will remember the legendary actor from all over the world through various events throughout the year. The Om Puri Foundation will be celebrating various events in Punjab, London and Cannes, India. A number of competitions will be organized in association with different organizations.” (UNI)
