Renowned Bollywood actor Salman Khan turned 60 on Friday.Over an illustrious career exceeding three decades, Khan has not only redefined his stardom but also entrenched himself as a multifaceted figure - actor, philanthropist and television personality - whose influence transcends the silver screen.

Born on December 27, 1965 to a stalwart screenwriter Salim Khan and his first wife Sushila Charak (later Salma), Salman has consistently remained the epicentre of Bollywood's evolution. His early foray into acting was with "Biwi Ho Toh Aisi" in 1988 in a supporting role, but his meteoric rise came with Maine Pyar Kiya (1989), a film that not only defined his career but also kickstarted his reign as Bollywood’s quintessential romantic hero.

Khan's repertoire spans an array of genres from the heartwarming "Hum Aapke Hain Kaun" to a high octane action blockbuster "Dabaang" and "Ek Tha Tiger".

Despite a few career slumps, Khan has maintained his position as one of the most bankable stars of the industry.
Khan has received numerous honours, including two National Film Awards as a film producer, and two Filmfare Awards as an actor. Forbes has included Khan in its list of the highest-paid celebrities in the world, in 2015 and 2018, with him being the highest-ranked Indian in the latter year, highlighting his global appeal.

Khan is also a successful television personality, hosting the popular reality show Bigg Boss since 2018, which has solidified his connection with fans across India.

Beyond the screen, Khan’s life has been a blend of compassion and controversy. His Being Human Foundation has been instrumental in supporting underprivileged communities, focusing on education and healthcare. At the same time, his personal life has faced scrutiny, from legal troubles like the 2015 hit-and-run case and the 2018 blackbuck poaching conviction to his tumultuous relationships with actresses like Aishwarya Rai, Somy Ali, Katrina Kaif and Sangeeta Bijlani.

Several Bollywood celebrities took to the social media to post birthday wishes for Khan.
Actor Neil Nitin Mukesh posted on Instagram: "Happiest Birthday dearest @BeingSalmanKhan bhai. Have the best year ahead. Loads of love and blessings."Noted choreographer Remo D'Souza posted "Happy birthday sir".Director-producer-screenwriter Ali Abbas Zafar said: "Happy birthday Bhai", tagging Khan with the message.(UNI)
