Bollywood wishes melody queen Lata Mangeshkar on her 90th birthday

Mumbai: Bollywood fraternities on Saturday wished melody queen Lata Mangeshkar on her birthday.The nightingale turned 90 on Saturday.
The celebrities took to their social media account Twitter and greeted the Bollywood playback singer on her birthday.Veteran actor Anil Kapoor said,''Happy Birthday, Lata Mangeshkarji! Thank you for giving us a song for every mood and a voice that will echo in our hearts forever... Wishing you lots of love, health and happiness!''
 
Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar said,''Many happy returns of the day to the Nightingale of India and our Maa Saraswati... Lata Mangeshkar didi Wish you a happy and a healthy life. Goddess of music.''
 
Actress Madhuri Dixit Nene said,'' 'Dil toh paagal hai, dil deewana hai'....for your beautiful voice! You truly are the 'Queen of Melody' Lataji. Happy Birthday! I wish you good health and happiness''.
 
Filmmaker and screenwriter Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra said,''A very happy birthday to the legend Lata Mangeshkar. Having your name on the album of my film was no short of a dream come true for me. Thank you for giving us 'Luka Chupi'.''

Lata Mangeshkar has recorded songs in over a thousand Hindi films and has sung songs in over 36 regional Indian languages and foreign languages, though primarily in Marathi and Hindi.
 
In recognition of her contributions to the nation, she was awarded the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honor, in 2001. She is the recipient of three National Film Awards, 12 Bengal Film Journalists' Association Awards, four Filmfare Best Female Playback Awards, two Filmfare Special Awards, Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award and many more. 
 
The Dadasaheb Phalke Award was also bestowed on her in 1989. She was the first Indian to perform in Royal Albert Hall in 1974. France conferred on her its highest civilian award (Officer of the Legion of Honour) in 2007. (UNI)
