New Delhi: After Sardarji 3, another film Punjabi film, Chal Mera Putt 4 has been embroiled in a major controversy which is slated for a worldwide release on August 1 and prominently features several Pakistani actors, including the comedian Iftikhar Thakur.

The fourth installment of comedy series Chal Mere Putt has been gearing up for a global theatrical release on August?1 but has been waiting for CBFC clearance.

The film directed by Janjot Singh, is marketed by Rhythm Boyz Entertainment. Punjabi known actors Simi Chahal (Savy) and Amrinder Gill (Jinder) return back on the screens, along with comedy icons Iftikhar Thakur, Nasir Chinyoti, and Akram Udas from Pakistan.

The cast's foreign location shooting highlights the franchise's dedication to blending cultures and offering universally relatable chuckles.

The story of the movie is based on the hardships faced by the Indian diaspora and has an emotional touch.

But the film also encountered significant production problems. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) withheld clearance, allegedly because of mounting nationalist feelings and recent provocative comments by Pakistani actor Iftikhar Thakur. In spite of these obstacles, the filmmakers are upbeat, expecting the movie to be a cultural bridge between countries.

It is worth mentioning that Iftikhar Thakur made provocative statements on May 2, following the Pahalgam terror attack.

While theatres around India are gearing up for its release, Chal Mere Putt 4 is not just another comedy—it's a celebration of friendship and collaboration across borders. Whether people catch on to this message or not is yet to be seen, but the history of this film already testifies to the powerful ability of art to unite people.
