Mumbai: In connection with the alleged act of instigating Ziah Khan for suicide, a session court framed the charges against Bollywood actor Suraj Pancholi. Judge KD Sherbhate fixed charges against 27-year-old actor under section 306 of the Indian Penal Code.The actor called himself innocent.Pancholi’s lawyer Prashant Patil said that Suraj said he is innocent and witness test will begin on February 14. According to the charge-sheet, Jiah Khan was found hanged on 3 June 2013 at her residence located in Juhu. She was staying at Suraj's house for two days and returned to her house the same day.
According to the CBI, during the interrogation, Suraj covered the facts and mislead the police. Suraj also refused to go under a polygraphy or brain mapping test, but the agency wanted to conduct an investigation to examine the alleged role of Suraj. The CBI said that Jia had written a letter of three pages to the Mumbai Police, in which she had written about her relationship with Suraj. She faced physical abuse and mental harassment, which forced her to take the extreme step.In October 2013, Jiah's mother, Rabiya Khan, had approached the Bombay High Court and stated that her daughter was murdered and case should be investigated by CBI, Later the case was transferred to CBI.(WD)
