New Delhi: Bollywood 'badshah' Shahrukh Khan has said his forthcoming film ‘Dear Zindagi’ is all about importance of a woman in man's life. In an interaction with the media during his visit to the capital to promote the film, in which he played the role of an extended cameo and a support to female lead Alia Bhatt, Shahrukh said,’’living in a man's world, we talk about women empowerment, but we don't understand their importance in our life. What I want to make clear is that the movie stresses the importance of a woman’s role in a man’s life, without being too preachy.’’
Asked if the film was targeted at women and give its message of feminism, Shahrukh said,’’many confident women have made this movie and it gives a message that whatever a women does, with whomsoever she does and whenever she does, without being judgemental, is always right. So, I think the movie will also impress the men." Replying to a question on why he agreed to be a part of the film, Shahrukh said,''Being a father to a 17-year-old girl is the reason I am part of this movie. All the questions asked in the movie are extremely important for all of us.’’ Alia Bhatt who plays the protagonist in the flick says that she can relate to her character of Kiara more than any character she has done till date.
"Whatever Kiara goes through - complications, insecurities, feelings, breakups etc - , the same I have gone through in my life. Its very much relatable.Lot of girls and boys of my age will feel the same like Kiara," the 23-year- old actress said. Addressing the occasion, the film’s director Gauri Shinde, who had earlier directed the Srivedi-starrer ‘English Vinglish’, said SRK's stardom has not overshadowed the film. "The inspiration for 'Dear Zindagi' has come from my personal experiences, travelling and observing people. The movie somewhat revolves around feminism. It is a normal thing.
I don’t know why people make such an issue about it," she said. This is Gauri Shinde's second directorial after 'English Vinglish' and she has presented Shah Rukh as Jehangir or 'Jug', who is not a romantic person but a companion who will solve your problems by listening to you without being judgemental, more gentler, being a friend to a woman and loving her. The movie also stars Kunal Kapoor, Aditya Roy Kapur, Angad Bedi, Ira Dubey and Ali Zafar. 'Dear Zindagi' is slated to release on November 25. (UNI)
