Defamation case: Javed Akhtar seeks NBW against Kangana Ranaut

Mumbai: Veteran lyricist and poet Javed Akhtar has sought issuance of a non-bailable warrant against Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut for not attending proceedings in a criminal defamation case filed by him against her.

The application, moved by Akhtar's lawyer Jay Bharadwaj, said that the accused was not attending the court proceedings and listed the number of exemptions Ranaut had sought for one reason or another since March this year.

The court adjourned the hearing and directed Ranaut's lawyer to file a reply on January 4. (UNI)
