Mumbai: Riding on the tremendous buzz around it and the presence of superstars Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan, Yash raj films' 'Thugs of Hindostan' earned over Rs 50 crore on its opening day on Thursday, officials at the Yashraj films said.
According to early estimates, the film, which features Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan along with a stellar cast of Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Sheikh, has earned over Rs 50 crore on its opening day.
In doing so, 'Thugs of Hindostan' has decimated all previous opening day box office records in the history of Bollywood , becoming the first film ever to breach the 50 crore net mark on day one as well as on any single day.
The final opening day numbers will be announced on Saturday morning. Trade sources said that the mega action entertainer that boasts of jaw-dropping visual spectacle, has wowed audiences who have given it a unanimous thumbs up on an opening day.
The film brings together two of the biggest icons of Hindi cinema Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan for the first time on big screen, making it a must watch movie for Hindi film lovers worldwide. It also stars Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Shaikh in key roles.(UNI)
