Despite Kabir Singh, Game Over maintains strong hold at box-office

Despite Kabir Singh, Game Over maintains strong hold at box-office

New Delhi: The phenomenal reception of Taapsee Pannu-starrer ‘Game Over’ has once again proved the classic adage that content is king.

The Tamil-Telugu-bilingual and the Hindi version have all received a great response from both critics and audience.

The film stars Taapsee who steps into the shoes of a girl battling a post-traumatic stress disorder, trapped in the midst of a brutal home invasion.

The actress had earlier expressed how shooting for the film was a physically and emotionally challenging experience but it seemed to be worthwhile, as she walked away with rave reviews for her performance in the film.

What is surprising is that the thriller is still running in theaters with the footfalls refusing to end and is getting compliments from fans on social media in huge numbers.

Entering into its third week, the dream run continues for the film as it collected approximately Rs 12 crore by the second weekend.

Interestingly, ‘Game Over’ had covered its cost of production much before it’s nationwide release and after a successful two week run has even covered its P&A numbers.

The trade announced it as a bonafide hit in the first weekend itself and the collections stand testimonial to that.

Interestingly, the film recovered the basic cost even before its theatrical release through its satellite and digital rights.

Since it was made at a shoestring budget, the film’s collections have only been adding to the profits of the film.

The makers are extremely happy for the cast and crew who gave their 100 per cent to make the film a bonafide success. Even though the film released in a limited number of screens, its still running to a fabulous response in cinemas.

Despite a big star cast film like ‘Kabir Singh’ now in theatres, ‘Game Over’ in its second week is still holding its own ground. (UNI)
