After that, I made Apne, which was a family drama. Now, I have made Vanvaas, which is again a family drama."

He described as “overwhelming” the people’s response to the film and said he saw the audience could relate to the story.Sharma, one of the acclaimed present generation Bollywood directors, has in his repertoire hit films like Hukumat, Tahalka, Elaan-E-Jung, Farishtey, Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, and Gadar 2.On why he opted for Nana Patekar in the lead role in Vanvaas, Sharma replied that he had faith in the actor’s experience and talent and his image as an action hero never seemed an impediment to him. “I believe that an actor’s performance should speak for itself”.
