From Lara Dutta to Shooter Dadi, popular personalities celebrate Daughter’s Day

Mumbai: It is daughter’s day and the social media is filled with messages and posts from people across the country. Popular actors Lara Dutta and Soundarya Sharma, Politician Dr. Pushkar and the NGO Save The Children turned to Koo, India’s microblogging and social media platform to express their thoughts on the occasion.

Bellbottom actor Lara Dutta took to Koo and wrote, “Daughters are god’s greatest gift!!! #daughtersday #GirlPower #love.”



On International Daughters Day, celebrated to cherish the girl child, the octogenarian athlete, Prakashi Tomar, popularly known as Shooter Dadi took to Koo and humbly requested the Sports Minister to encourage women’s participation, as sports helps women progress ahead in life, does away with patriarchy and brings about a positive change in the society.

Her post, kooed from her handle @shooterdadi, also congratulates prominent shooters Anjum Mudgil, Apurvi Chandela and Manu Bhaker; and badminton champs like Saina Nehwal and PV Sindhu for not only doing their country proud, but for setting the right example before parents to encourage their daughters to take up sports.



Soundarya Sharma kooed with a picture with her Father and Mother and said, “Daughters r d most beautiful & magical creations in their parents’ lives. They make parents’ lives better by just being a part of it. Although parents don’t really need a reason 2celebrate their children, it’s nice 2pay them some extra attention 2tell them how much they r loved. 2day, is International Daughters Day Lets share a pic to express how special daughters are. #DaughtersDay #GirlPower”



Dr. Pushkar K, the Minister of Medical Education and Health of Karnataka, kooed lovely pictures with his daughter and wrote “A daughter may outgrow your lap but she’ll never outgrow your heart. A daughter is the most beautiful blessing from God, a blessing that brightens each and every day of our life. Happy #DaughtersDay to my dearest daughter.”



On the occasion, Childline India Foundation, the nodal agency of the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development for setting up, managing and monitoring the CHILDLINE 1098 service all over the country too kooed, “Daughters are the sunshine that brightens our life. International Daughter’s day is celebrated across the world on every fourth Sunday of September. This year, the day is celebrated today, September 26.
