Mumbai: In an extraordinary sweep at the 65th Amazon Filmfare awards 2020, "Gully Boy" created history and dominated the awards night. With 13 awards in their kitty, "Gully Boy" became the only movie to take home maximum awards in varied categories.
The epic journey of struggling rappers from the world of unknown hoisted the fantasy genre to Filmfare glory as the movie won record-tying awards, sweeping every category in which it was nominated. The directing went to Zoya Akhtar, arguably the finest and most detailed director in the cinematic world. Her keen direction, the ensemble cast, and exemplary screenplay made Gully Boy loved by all and went on to win the Best Film award.

Other categories that added on to the movie's list of awards included Best Background Score, Best Production Design, Best Cinematography, Best Lyrics, Best Music and Best screenplay.

Siddhant Chaturvedi, the find of the year who etched his place in the hearts of all cinephiles with his hard-hitting performance carried the black lady home in the Best Supporting Actor category. Joining him was Amruta Subhash who won as the Best Supporting Actress for her strong role in the movie. Our most loved Alia Bhatt as Safeena and Ranveer Singh as Murad claimed the Best Actress and the Best actor titles and we sure couldn't agree more.

Zoya Akhtar's Gully Boy was a sensation when it hit the screens and was a bonafide hit. The movie amplifies voices from the streets and brings out the right emotions and situations. Gully Boy is one of the most loved films and one can't help but fall in love with it towards the end.

The movie recently completed its one year anniversary.
