Paris: Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur, along with actors Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Shekhar Kapur and R Madhavan, on Tuesday walked the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival in France.

The festival kicked off on Tuesday, where India is all set to show its artistic prowess as the first ever country of honour at the Cannes Marche du Film (Cannes Film Festival).

The Union Minister called it a historic moment for the country. "A historic moment as India the 1st 'Country of Honour' at Marche Du Films @Festival_Cannes gets set to manifest into the 'content hub of the world and the preferred 'post production hub' for global film makers," he tweeted.

Earlier in the day, the I&B Minister met Charles H Rivkin, CEO, Motion Picture Association of America on the sidelines of Cannes Film Festival. "Very engaging discussion on a range of cinematic issues with Charles H. Rivkin. A pleasure meeting you and seeing your keen interest about India," Thakur tweeted.

“India has a lot of stories to be told and the country truly possesses immense potential to become the content hub of the world," the Minister posted on Twitter, while sharing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's message on the occasion.

"I am delighted to learn about India's participation as a country of honour at the Marche du Film - festival de Cannes," Modi said in his message, which was also shared by Thakur on social media. (UNI)
