Mumbai: Sony Entertainment Television’s singing reality show Indian Idol Season 12 has been entertaining the viewers for many weeks now with some wonderful performances. With the Greatest Grand Finale right around the corner, the contestants are putting in their best foot forward with the aim to win the coveted title of Indian Idol Season 12.
The versatile and effervescent voice of contestant Pawandeep Rajan has touched the viewers hearts. He has given great performances back to back. There is no doubt that Pawandeep is great singer but, he also finds interest in playing multiple instruments which makes him an, ‘all-rounder.’
The show has witnessed a pool of young and versatile singers, each who have made a mark in people's hearts. Pawandeep Rajan has won mighty praises and has been consistently lauded for his performances and has secured a seat in Top 6. He will be seen putting forth various performances in the 'Greatest Finale Ever' which will go on for 12 hours on 15th August. In a candid conversation, here is Pawandeep talking about his journey, experience and what to expect ahead.
The Greatest Grand Finale of Indian Idol Season 12 is here. It is going to be a 12-hour finale on 15th August! A firsts in many ways. How excited or nervous are you?
It is indeed a big deal as this is for the first time that a finale will air for 12 hours straight. I am currently going through a mixed bag of emotions. I am excited and nervous, all at the same time. There is so much in store for the viewers. We are putting our best foot forward to give the viewers and amazing experience. To be honest, it is great to be a part of something that is so huge and is happening for the very first time.
Being one of the Top 6 finalists of the show, how has your preparation been and, how is it different from others?
I had never imagined coming this far. It is a great feeling and let me tell you, the journey has been just like a rollercoaster ride with a lot of experiences and learnings. I would like to thank the prestigious platform of Indian Idol Season 12 for the many opportunities they have provided me. While the show comes to an end, I cannot express how boundless this journey has been. Talking about our preparations, all of us used to practice together, learn lyrics together and help one another out. As for me, I used to give solo performances in front of the mirror just to see how I look. I have always been a little shy and this helps me overcome that a little.
Did you imagine coming this far? Can you elaborate the journey from your city to the prestigious stage of Indian Idol?
Absolutely not. Getting selected in itself was a huge deal for me, my family and my near and dear ones. Then coming to Mumbai, being a part of Top 15 and now Top 6; it is like I’m in a dream. There are days where I pinch myself to really believe how far I have reached in this journey. It has been an exceptional one for sure. I have found a family in my fellow contestants and strongly believe that each one of us will make it big because of this stage and everything that the platform has provided.
You are one of the most trending singers of Indian Idol and a celebrity’s favorite too. How do you feel about that?
I am thankful to all my fans and viewers out there who have supported me right from my initial days. It is only because of their acknowledgement, appreciation and love that I have managed to make it this far and earn the tag of one of the most trending singers of Indian Idol 12. My gratitude and love go out to each and every one and I am eternally grateful for their constant support.
We are aware of how close-knit all you contestants are. How will you feel if you don't win and someone else does?
Like you already said, we are very close and a tightly bonded group of friends. Our biggest takeaway is the journey, opportunities, friendship and love that we have received from India and abroad as well. I am just grateful to be able to make it so far. Coming to the winner of this season, I will be equally happy even if any of my friends win. It will be the same amount of happiness and energy that I would experience for them as I would have for myself.
There are a lot of rumors around you and Arunita’s friendship, what is your take on it ?
Arunita and I are great friends. She is such a talented singer and well versed with the nitty-gritties of each and every song she takes up. She will continue to be a dear friend and nothing will change that.
What are your future plans post Indian Idol?
I haven’t made any concrete plans yet. I know that Ashish and I will be joining forces to create something great and the rest will just follow. As time comes and we explore our opportunities, we will definitely keep our fans informed.
Any message for your fans and well-wishers?
I just want to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for their constant love and support. I have immense gratitude for all of you. I hope you continue to like, enjoy and support my work even after my journey at Indian Idol 12 ends. Thank you all, once again.
