Mumbai: The buzz for the film notwithstanding, Madhur Bhandarkar’s ‘Indu Sarkar’, a film with the 1975 emergency as its backdrop, has evoked a poor response at the box office with meagre earning of Rs 4.3 crore in the first five days, trade sources said.The film, which made a lot of buzz in the run up to its release due to its controversial subject and the protest by Congress workers, failed to enthuse the audiences.
The film managed to earn just Rs 3.55 crore in its opening weekend. After grossing over Rs 3.55 crore over its opening weekend, ‘Indu Sarkar’ took a sharp drop in its collection on weekdays, with earning Rs 40 lakhs on Monday and Rs 35 lakhs on Tuesday.The film now stands at the total of Rs 4.30 crores at the box office.Starring Neil Nitin Mukesh, Kirti Kulhari and Anupam Kher, Indu Sarkar created a strong buzz in the run up to its release with the 1975 emergency as its backdrop.
