Javed Akhtar condemns Moradabad incident; terms it 'shameful'

New Delhi: Noted lyricist Javed Akhtar on Saturday strongly denounced the recent attack on medical staff of a Moradabad hospital when they went to pick up a Coronavirus patient.

"I can't imagine how ignorant one has to be to attack those who are at the risk of their own lives are out there to save other lives What has happened in Moradabad is a matter of great shame", Mr Akhtar tweeted.He further, in his tweet, requested "the educated people of that city" to somehow contact and "educate such ignorants".

Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit, who has been very vocal and repeatedly accusing the Tablighi Jamaat Markaz participants, was quick to respond to Mr Akhtar.In a twitter reply, Mr Pandit said, "Sir this is not being ignorant. This is a well-planned conspiracy hatched by those very people who use every opportunity to destabilise the country."

On April 15, a team of doctors and medical staff was attacked by a mob in Moradabad's Nawabganj area when they went to take away two suspected cases of the novel coronavirus in the area. In the incident, a doctor was injured in the stone-pelting while three vehicles, including an ambulance, were damaged in mob violence in Galsahid police station area on Wednesday afternoon.(UNI)
