Mumbai: Mumbai Police on Friday recorded the statement of actress Kangana Ranaut and her sister Rangoli Chandel in connection with a sedition case filed against them by a casting director.

In pursuant to a Bombay High Court order, both the sisters appeared before the Bandra Police at 1300 hours today.

Last November, a High Court Division Bench of Justices S S Shinde and MS Karnik accepted the undertaking tender by Ranaut sisters’ advocate Rizwan Siddique that his clients would report to the Mumbai Police on Jan 8, in response to the summons served on them.

Back then, the Court had also barred them from making any “instigating statements” on social media platforms to the subject matter in the FIR lodged by the police.

The duo women had moved the High Court, seeking to quash the police FIR lodged against them for allegedly posting communal posts on social media.

Subsequently, they were summoned by the Bandra Police on three different dates which they skipped on various grounds.

The police have already recorded the statement of the complainant who accuses the sisters of defaming the film industry and creating communal bias. (UNI)
