Karan Johar to Make Met Gala Debut in Manish Malhotra Outfit

Acclaimed filmmaker Karan Johar is all set to make his debut at the prestigious Met Gala this year, and will be dressed in a custom-designed outfit by celebrity couturier Manish Malhotra.

Malhotra confirmed the collaboration during an interaction with CBS’s Saturday Morning, hinting at a standout red carpet appearance. “I’m designing for a very big director known for his fashion and films, Karan Johar. There’s going to be a lot more on the red carpet—let’s wait and watch,” he said.

Johar follows in the footsteps of Shah Rukh Khan, who made his Met Gala debut last year in a striking all-black ensemble by Sabyasachi Mukherjee, featuring crystal chains and a signature cane.

The Met Gala is a globally celebrated fundraising event for the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This year’s gala will be held on May 4, with the theme “Costume Art.”

A host of global stars, including Rihanna and Zendaya, are expected to attend the high-profile event. However, 'Desi Girl' Priyanka Chopra will not attend the event this time.
