Kerala hospital uses Oscar-winning actor Morgan Freeman's face in skincare ad, Netizens furious

New Delhi: A hospital in Kerala's Kozhikode has been slammed by netizens for using the photo o 84-year-old Oscar-winning actor Morgan Freeman to advertise their skincare treatment facility. The hospital later issued an apology.

The advertisement for the skin treatment board read: "Get your Skin tags, DPNs, Warts, Milia, Molluscum and Comedones removed through simple procedures, easily in a single visit." The photo soon went viral on social media and the hospital was slammed for their racist behaviour.

“Sir, Morgan Freeman your picture is used as a poster at a dermatology department advt board in hospital in Kerala, India. Using your picture as sample, they are claiming to make everyone free from dark tan, wrinkles, pigments,” author Rejimon Kuttappan wrote.

Slamming the ad, film critic GP Ramachandra said, "Vadakara 'Co-operative' Hospital is an insult to the great co-operative sector in Kerala."

Later, the hospital issued an apology: "The picture on the billboard of the dermatology department of Vadakara Co-operative Hospital is an unintentional mistake. The board was removed and action was taken as soon as it was brought to our notice. The billboard image has become a controversial topic on social media and we tender unconditional apologies if it has hurt anyone in any way." (UNI)
