Mumbai: Celebrated actor Akshay Kumar headlines "Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh", whose groundbreaking teaser was unveiled on Monday by Dharma Productions, in association with Cape of Good Films and Leo Kedia Collective.
Directed by Karan Singh Tyagi, this cinematic opus enlists R. Madhavan and Ananya Panday to breathe life into a chapter of history too long eclipsed by silence.
The teaser begins not with visuals but with a 30-second auditory sequence, a stark soundscape filled with bloodcurdling screams, gunfire and the harrowing echoes of panic and violence. This auditory immersion jolts the audience into the horror of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, crafting an atmosphere of foreboding and empathy even before the first visual emerges, as per a report by Bollywood Hungama.
As the visuals commence, viewers are given fleeting yet powerful glimpses of Akshay Kumar in a gritty, never-before-seen avatar, alongside R. Madhavan as a morally conflicted British officer and Ananya Panday in a role that infuses the narrative with emotional gravitas.
Positioned as a standalone sequel to the 2010 blockbuster "Kesari", this film dives deeper into the untold stories of ordinary individuals caught in the horrors of the massacre. According to the filmmakers, the movie not only commemorates the innocent lives lost but also aspires to provoke meaningful reflection on colonial oppression.
This film is set to hit the silver screens on April 18.
