Singer KK death: Kolkata police registers unnatural death case

Kolkata: The Kolkata police has registered an unnatural death case following the sudden demise of famed singer KK, a police officer said on Wednesday.

Krishnakumar Kunnath, popularly known by his stage name KK, died after a concert at the Nazrul Manch in South Kolkata on Tuesday night.

An unnatural death case has been registered at the New Market police station.

Meanwhile, the singer's family members have arrived in the city.

Expressing shock over the singer's sudden death, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said, her administration is working to give all requisite support for the formalities.

"The sudden and untimely demise of the Bollywood playback singer KK shocks and saddens us. My colleagues have been working from last night to ensure that all requisite support is given for necessary formalities, his rites and to his family now," she tweeted.

KK's body has been kept at the CMRI Hospital, where he was declared brought dead on Tuesday night. A post-mortem would be conducted at the SSKM Hospital after receiving the formal consent of the bereaved family. (UNI)
