Legendary Bangladeshi singer Sabina Yasmin diagnosed with oral cancer again

Dhaka: Legendary Bangladeshi singer Sabina Yasmin, whose popularity extends across the sub-continent is in hospital after a recurrence of oral cancer, first detected 17 years back, according to a family member.
 
The 69-year-old singer has undergone mouth surgery and is now under treatment at the National Cancer Center of Singapore General Hospital.
 
According to the family member, towards the end of last year, the 14-time Bangladesh National Film Awardee developed some complications in her body, with subsequent examinations confirming the recurrence of the disease. She was taken to Singapore earlier this month.
 
In 2007, Yasin successfully battled non-Hodgkin lymphomaoral cancer and returned to normal life, The Daily Star reported.
 
Yasmin, associated with music for over 50 years, has been presented Bangladesh's highest civilian award the "Swadhinata Puraskar" and the second-highest civilian award, the "Ekushey Padak." He was also honoured with the lifetime achievement award by the organisers of the Kolkata Utsav in Kolkata in 2019.
