Kolkata: Legendary Bollywood actress Sridevi passed away on Saturday night after a cardiac arrest, confirmed her brother-in-law Sanjay Kapoor.She was 54.The actress passed away after a massive cardiac arrest in Dubai.She is survived by husband Boney Kapoor and daughters, Khushi and Janhavi Kapoor.
“Yes, it is true that Sridevi passed away. I just landed here, I was in Dubai and now I am flying back to Dubai. It happened roughly around 1100-1130,” Sanjay confirmed Sridevi along with husband Boney Kapoor and her younger daughter Khushi was in Dubai to attend a family wedding.
“I have no words. Condolences to everyone who loved #Sridevi . A dark day . RIP,” actress Priyanka Chopra tweeted.Actor Riteish Deshmukh tweeted,“Terrible terrible news.... Am shocked beyond words. SRIDEVI ji No More ... RIP.”
Actress Sushmita Sen tweeted, “I just heard Ma’am Sridevi passed away due to a massive cardiac arrest. I am in shock...cant stop crying...”
Born on August 13, 1963 as Shree Amma Yanger Ayyapan, Sridevi had worked in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada films before debuting in Hindi films.She had started her career as a child artiste, and grew up to be one of the biggest female stars India ever had. The government of India awarded her Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian honour, in 2013. (UNI)
