Mumbai:After the press release issued by Raza Academy, Maharashtra govt has banned the screening of the film 'Muhammad: The Messenger of God' by Majid Majid. It is to be noted that for a few days it created an uproar in Maharashtra politics.
Recently Home Minister of Maharashtra Anil Deshmukh penned down a letter to the government in centre requesting a ban on the release of the movie with the subject header "Blocking of Digital platform under Section 69 A of Information Technology Act".

He appealed for a ban on the movie as a community believes it to be a blasphemous act. The movie can potentially disturb the religious sentiments of the citizens. It can also lead to the law and order situation in the country.

Besides, Raza academy which also has an alleged role  in the 2012 Adarsh Maidan Riots also handed over a press release to the distributors."The Don Cinema".

The letter read "We have come to know that you are the distributor of the movie. The film portrays the holy Prophet as a Child and his mother and father are also shown in as a person. The holy prophet of Islam can never be picturized and those who have done it have committed Blasphemy. Hence we request you to stop the distribution of the movie".

Earlier in 2018, the movie couldn't be screened in Kerala due to censorship issues.
