Moon Knight actor Gaspard Ulliel dies at 37 after ski accident

Paris: French actor Gaspard Ulliel, known for his portrayal of Hannibal Lecter in 'Hannibal Rising', has passed away at the age of 37 after a skiing accident in France.

Taking to Twitter on Wednesday, French Prime Minister Jean Castex said: "Gaspard Ulliel grew up with cinema and cinema grew up with him. They loved each other madly. It's with a heavy heart that we will rewatch his most beautiful performances and catch his unique gaze. We have lost a French actor."

Citing a statement by the Albertville prosecutor's office CNN reported that the actor met with the accident on Tuesday at the La Rosière ski resort in the Alpine department of Savoie.

After Ulliel left the blue ski run, he collided with another skier and they both fell. While the other skier was not injured, the actor lay still in the snow unconscious.

He was airlifted to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead.

The actor gained fame after his portrayal of French fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent in the 2014 biopic 'Saint Laurent'.

His next on-screen Marvel Disney+ series 'Moon Knight' is scheduled for release in March 2022. (UNI)
