The movie shot in the forest of tiger state (MP) failed to become either a documentary or a movie. It neither entertains nor gives insight into the modus operandi of the forest department, poaching, and man-animal conflict. The movie only manages boredom. Surprisingly the movie is directed by the fame director Amit V Masurkar who has directed Rajkumar starrer Newton.
The story showcase Vidya Balan in the role of a DFO officer posted at forest cover in Madhya Pradesh. The actress is an honest officer but faces stiff challenges professionally and personally. Corrupt officers and politicians pose a hurdle before her mission which is to nab a man-eater tigress alive. However few people wish to see the tigress dead.

The first hour of the movie is too slow to watch, you may complete a nap. The elements of a feature film are seen in the second half. There is a poacher as an antagonist, the politics regarding the environment and sustainable development has been portrayed. While Vidya Balan is being relentlessly forced for family planning by her in-laws. However, all these scenes appear flat on celluloid.

The issues raised by the director have been quite obvious before the audience as they have been reading a lot about it in the mainstream media. There is a lack of spellbinding information in the movie. The film has portrayed the issue of shepherds seeking a place for the cattles to gaze and getting trapped by naive politicians. The DFO is facing chin music as a female officer in the ecosystem.

The script has been lackluster and neither the dialogues nor the circumstances prove to be effective. The characters of Neeraj Kabi and Sharat Saxena have been written sluggishly.

Amit V Masurkar disappoints as a director, the presentation suffered at the cost of the intriguing storyline. Neither the movie impresses on technical aspects.

The flat storyline and ineffective direction have dampened the acting standards of the artists. Surprisingly Vidya Balan who has proved her mettle as an actress has not matched her past level. Conclusively This Sherni is toothless.
