New Delhi: One of the most-awaited period films 'Rangoon' hits cinema screens worldwide amid a strong buzz for the cinematic venture, which deals with the life of Mary Ann Evans aka Fearless Nadia, Bollywood's first original stunt-woman.Directed by Vishal Bhardwaj and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and Viacom 18 Motion Pictures, 'Rangoon' is a period film set during World War II(1939-1945) and which is believed to portray the life and times of Mary Ann Evans aka Fearless Nadia, Bollywood's first original stunt-woman still remembered for her fiery role in the movie 'Hunterwali'.

The movie, which stars Saif Ali Khan, Shahid Kapoor and Kangana Ranaut in lead roles, has created a strong Buzz among cinegoers even before its release. The film, which has been in making for over a year, is one of the most ambitious ventures by Vishal Bharadwaj, who has given to the film industry critically acclaimed films like 'Omkara', 'Haider' and 'the blue umbrella '.
'Rangoon ' has been mounted on a grand scale.Kangana, who essays the role of 'Jaanbaaz Miss Julia', a 1940s action diva in this period drama modelled after Fearless Nadia, dons an altogether different 'avataar' in the film.

Kangana's role in 'Rangoon ' is a tribute to the stunt women of the 1930's and 1940's .
Trade sources say the filmmakers sifted through reams of books on history of Indian cinema and came up with a list of stunt women who were part of action films in the 1930s and 40s.
They said the movie pays ode to 12 women who were big on stunts during that era.
It could be another pathbreaking film for Kangana who evoked lot of praise for her role in 'Tanu Weds Manu' and 'Queen '.

Bharadwaj is all praise for the work done by Kangana Ranaut in the film.Speaking at a special screening of the film, the filmmaker said,' Kangana is one of the finest actresses we have in the industry. She has done a tremendous job in this film.' Bharadwaj said he was happy and excited to show the film to the audience.'It is a great feeling that you keep visualising a dream for seven years and suddenly one day your dream comes alive on screen. It makes you satisfied as a creator,'he said.Trade sources say the strong buzz for the film could ensure a good opening for the film.(UNI)
