Hyderabad: After much delay, multiple languages ‘ RRR’ action drama film directed by S. S. Rajamouli, and produced by D. V. V. Danayya of DVV Entertainments, is all set to release across the world on January 7 next year.
The film is not related to any ‘ history’ and purely based on ‘Friendship,’ Filmmaker Rajamouli said at a press conference held here on Saturday along with film stars Jr NTR (also known as Tarak), Ram Charan and Alia Bhatt.
The RRR team is busy promoting the film across the country, especially after the trailer was recently released. After touring Mumbai, Chennai and Bengaluru, the team is in the city.
The Tollywood filmmaker also said it is a ‘fictional’ thought movie about two Indian revolutionaries.
Alluri Sitarama Raju (Charan) and Komaram Bheem (Jr NTR ), fought against the British Raj and Nizam of Hyderabad respectively.
Releasing in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada languages, RRR, is the first pan-Indian film featuring multi-starrer Jr NTR and Ram Charan.Bollywood actress Bhatt who’s making her debut in Tollywood with RRR, said in few lines in Telugu -- “Trailer pagilipoindi kada, Mumbai lo maku picchekindi,”
The actress also seemed happy to be there, calling the film ‘opportunity of a lifetime’.
“I would love to do more films in the south, there’s no such thing that I will only do a Hindi film, she said.Tarak and Charan are lovely to work with and working with Rajamouli is a dream-come-true, Bhatt added.
Both Tarak and Ram Charan had to stay in the skin of their characters, Komaram Bheem and Alluri Sitaramaraju for two long years as the film’s shoot and release was delayed due to the pandemic.
Explaining about his role as a Gond tribal revolutionary, Jr NTR said “It’s difficult to be Komaram Bheem because we know him but don’t know the depths of his character.” There were days I would get irritated about maintaining the look for the film but it was all worth it.
It was a mental and physical transformation that I had gone through to get the behavior right, but Rajamouli helped me through it all, he added.
Except in Malayalam, I have dubbed in other languages in the film including Telugu, Tamil, Hindi and Kannada, Jr NTR added.
While talking about his role as Alluri Sitaramaraju, Ram Charan said “My character will be seen in three different shades in the film, all three were different and difficult. Maintaining the physique for two years is not an easy task for anyone. But we were prepared for it so we tried to stay in shape as much as we could,” he added.
Rajamouli scripted the film from the original story written by K. V. Vijayendra Prasad.
He came across stories about the incidents that happened in the lives of Sitarama Raju and Bheem, and connected the coincidence between them.
The thought that how they could have been friends during their formative years inspired Rajamouli to make the film. Set in 1920, the plot explores the undocumented period in their lives when both the revolutionaries choose to go into oblivion before they began the fight for their country.
The film was formally announced in March 2018, with the launch and the principal photography of the film began in November 2018 in Hyderabad.
The film was shot extensively across India, with a few sequences in Ukraine and Bulgaria.
The film's soundtrack and background score is composed by M. M. Keeravani with cinematography by K. K. Senthil Kumar and editing by A. Sreekar Prasad. Sabu Cyril is the film's production designer whilst V. Srinivas Mohan supervised the visual effects.
The film was made reportedly on a lavish budget and on an unprecedented scale, was initially scheduled for theatrical release on July 30 2020, which has been deferred due to production delays and followed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Now, the film is scheduled to be released theatrically on January 7, 2022.Jayanti Lal Gada of PEN Studios has bagged the theatrical distribution rights across North India and has also bought worldwide electronic rights for all languages.'RRR' movie likely to be available on the OTT platform only after at least 90 days from the theatrical release.(UNI)
