Mumbai: Bollywood actress Shraddha Kapoor who essayed the character of a ghost, in the blockbuster films "Stree" and "Stree 2", is now set to play the character of shape-shifting Nagin.
On the auspicious day of Makar Sankranti, January 14, producer Nikhil Dwivedi took to his Instagram and shared an interesting update about the project.
Dwivedi posted a story, showcasing the image of the film's script adorned with marigold flowers, symbolising the ceremonial beginning of the ambitious project, titled “Nagin: An Epic Tale of Love & Sacrifice.” The script also mentioned, “Created & Developed by SAFFRON Magicworks.” His caption reads, “Makar Sankranti & Finally…”, dropping hints that the movie is ready to kick start.
In an interview with 'India Today' in the year 2024, Nikhil revealed that Shraddha Kapoor was extremely excited to start the shoot of Nagin. He had also mentioned that the filming is likely to begin in 2025, according to a report by Pinkvilla.
Earlier in an old interview with Pinkvilla, Dwivedi disclosed about his preference, particularly inclined towards Shraddha Kapoor, stating, “the only person I really thought of was Shraddha because I think she is one of the few actresses we have who has this unique quality of being a girl next door and can turn into a very sensuous woman the next day if she wants to.”
The 37-year-old actress took to X (formerly Twitter) in 2020, to share her elation about the project, “It’s an absolute delight for me to play a Naagin on screen. I have grown up watching, admiring and idolising Sridevi ma'am's Nagina and Nigahen and have always wanted to play a similar role rooted in Indian traditional folklore.”
