New Delhi : Superstar Amitabh bachchan has said that he was pained to see India being described in the world as a “country of rapes”.
At an event here last evening to promote his latest film ‘Pink’, Mr Bachchan said that he was extremely pained when during his visits abroad people say that India is a land of rapes.
'I feel very ashamed in such situations.
I want that the situation in India in this regard should improve,' Mr Bachchan , who plays the role of a lawyer in ‘Pink’ who fights the cases of harassment of women.
'To improve this situation, we all need to work together to ensure that India becomes a ‘first world’ country.
Developing countries consider us a ‘Third world’ or an underdeveloped country which is is not the truth.
We have it in us to become among the top nations of the world,' Mr Bachchan said.
Directed by Shoojit Sircar, ‘Pink’ features Mr Bachchan, along with Tapsee Pannu, Kirti Kulhari, Andrea Tariang and Angad Bedi.
The film, which was released yesterday, is the story of three girls taking on their wrongdoers in a society full of people with a sexist and patriarchal attitude.
